These are notes from musicians, small brands, and festival organisers I've shot for around Cape Town. They talk about the process, the working day, and what the images ended up being used for.

The projects shown here are selected from a broader archive of commissioned and personal work. Each entry reflects a specific assignment, a particular community, or a defined editorial brief. The following clarifications outline how the work is presented, what the images represent, and the conditions under which the material may be used.
Every project is introduced with a short background note. This explains the setting, the people involved, and the reason the series was made. The goal is to give the viewer a frame for what they are looking at, rather than presenting images as isolated visuals.
Where relevant, I include details about lighting, lens choice, and format. These notes are meant for those who are curious about the process, not as a technical breakdown. They describe the conditions of the shoot, such as available light or a specific camera setting.
The photographs are presented for editorial and documentary purposes. They are not stock images and are not available for commercial licensing without prior agreement. If you are interested in using a specific image or series, please reach out directly to discuss the context.
Portrait work is always done with the subject's consent. Sessions are planned around the person's environment and comfort, whether that is a studio, their home, or a place they work. The final selection is shared with the subject before it is published anywhere.
For documentary series, I work with a minimal intervention approach. This means I do not stage scenes or direct people beyond basic framing. The aim is to observe and record situations as they unfold, respecting the integrity of the moment.
The captions and descriptions that accompany each project are written to accurately reflect the content of the images. Dates, locations, and names are included when they are known and when sharing them does not compromise anyone's privacy.
